SPOTTED!! AGAIN…RICHARD CROUSE!!

June 4, 2010 4 comments

A former public school community theater rival of mine just posted this breaking news on my Facebook Wall:

“FYI – SPOKE to Richard Crouse on the subway today…that’s right I asked him what’s the best movie to watch this week, answer? Splice.”

“…Yonge/University Line – I got on at St Andrew, he was already on but got off at Osgoode. Time: 10am est”

Very interesting… Will you be catching this flick that has otherwise received terrible reviews?

SPOTTED! RON SEXSMITH, EMAIL SEAN AND DJ D-MINUS!!!

June 2, 2010 1 comment

Queen and Niagara was the epicenter of a who’s who of Canadian musical heavyweights last Friday at 6pm. ANOTHER appearance from musical icon Ron Sexsmith. Wearing a seemingly old green t shirt and an unimpressed look on his face, he was heading north across Queen St and crossing at the lights by One of a Kind Pasta & Grill.

At the very same time that I was following creepily along behind Sexsmith, late 90′s Toronto rave scene heroes DJ D-Minus and “Email” Sean Scanlan of “E-mail productions” strolled by accompanied by an unknown female companion.

Late 20′s/Early 30′s somethings who had social problems in high school and came from undisciplined households might remember the former as part of the extremely popular DJ duo “Frisky and D-Minus” who were the resident DJs at long forgotten franchise “Hullabaloo”, steered by one “Chris Samojlenko” who later went on to pursue a career in corporate hypnotism.

The Happy Hardcore team also were featured as regular talent at the less popular but arguably more “hip” E-mail which was helmed by Scanlan. Great to see after all these years they are still out and about together behaving like old chums. Looking great guys!

I noticed you noticing me noticing you RON SEXSMITH!

I know nothing of you or your music but you are a familiar man. You have been spotted by yours truly twice on Queen West (we walked past each other on two separate occasions around Gorevale and Queen) and again last month shopping for fruit at the Metro at College and Shaw and finally, earlier this evening walking past my house with a lady friend on Grace St. just South of College St.

Ron Sexsmith always gives me a look of apprehenson whenever we cross paths. I wonder if he recognizes me as a creepy weirdo who is always staring at him, or if he just looks into the eyes of every person he passes, trying to figure out if they recognize him or not, a bit of an ego stroke on his own part if you will.

I stare at him knowingly, because I feel this is polite behaviour when encountering a local celebrity. This let’s them know that they are well known and are not just deluding themselves with the idea that they have hit the big time.

Death Comes to Town in the way of cheapness

May 8, 2010 1 comment

And that town is Little Italy, Toronto.

It has been alleged, that Mark McKinney, son of a diplomat, alumni of prestigious Ontario cottage country boarding school “Trinity College” and star of hit shows “The Kids in the Hall” and “Saturday Night Live”  is a cheap tipper.

Recently, a gentleman friend and I were entertaining ourselves over $5 Caipirinhas at local College St. watering hole Souz Dal when we spotted a very plainclothed Mark McKinney enjoying a few spirits with several men in the front window seat area. The Caipirinhas were tangy and refreshing, and without the taste of alcohol, I quickly drank too many and became obnoxious and drunk. I repeatedly droned on loudly to my drinking partner with remarks like: “Oh my god I can’t stop looking at Mark McKinney, but he’s dressed poorly, he just looks like an average guy, are his friends regular people or all entertainment types??? Do you think they are all rich???”

Well, after the group left, probably because of me, our beautiful waitress who I had inadvertently been flirting with, sauntered over to our table and said she’d heard everything we had said and she wanted to know who those guys were. When I told her who the famous man was, she said “Well if he’s rich, you wouldn’t know it!” and then sexily eyed the seemingly frugal tip the group had left her.

This is not all we’ve seen from Mr. McKinney however. I have passed him several times walking by Splish Splash laundrymat and convenience store at College and Clinton, and to top it off, he was spotted last week at the Toronto premiere of Paul Gross movie, “Gunless”.  He climbed the stairs alone, choosing to sit near the back of the theatre, but directly in front of Train 48 and Passchendaele star, Joe Dinicol. From my vantage point it appeared Dinicol recognized Mark McKinney, but not vice versa. McKinney took his seat  oblivious to the star power at his posterior.

Mark McKinney can be seen here, via Iphone pic at the Gunless Premiere. He is the illuminated white spec in the centre of the photo.
